paa has integrated the ImageXpress® HCS Imaging System into a range of workcells using the automate.it scara robot and our range of Mitsubishi factory robots.
The ImageXpress® plate reader is an epifluorescent microscope imager optimized for speed and small footprint. The Molecular Devices ImageXpress® HCS Imaging System is a point-scanning confocal system featuring two to four solid-state lasers providing up to 4 simultaneous excitation wavelengths. Both utilize MetaXpress® image analysis software and both are compatible with Overlord3 from paa.

The process:
get plate from input stack, read barcode, open plate reader draw
put plate in plate reader, run plate reader (with plate ID information)
when plate read complete, open plate reader draw, get plate from plate reader
put plate in output stack, move plate reader data to the required folder on PC or server
advanced integration
As with all Overlord3 applications, any of the 402 instruments can be used in a workcell. The application (left) is the "Robot Scientist" project at the University of Wales at Aberystwyth. In this workcell, 2 robots working in cooperation feed the sample preparation and sample analysis parts of the workcell to develop heuristics for assay development.
