Ultrasonic Spectroscopy |
| |
 |
ICHOS II is a state of the art ultrasonic spectrometer - open the door to a new dimension in chemical and physical measurement. Ultrasound interacts in a variety of ways with liquids and suspensions. This is observable by changes in the transmission properties and sound velocity of the sample. Ultrasonic spectroscopy provides unique information on systems hard to study by other techniques. |

Applications |
| |
 |
- Crystallization / nucleation – provides information early on the crystallization process before visible crystals are formed
- Nucleation studies
- Stability studies – suspensions, creams, metered dose inhalers, pharmaceutical preparations
- Protein conformation - observe changes in tertiary structure
- Study complex chemical equilibria – acid base equilibria, complexation - elucidate equilibrium and rate constants
- Particle size studies
- On-line measurements of concentration, composition, suspensions

System Features And Benefits |

Features |
|
Benefits |
|
| |
Very Broadband |
|
Enables models to be fitted to the spectra to elucidate rate constants, equilibrium constants, particle size distribution. |
|
| |
Experimental automation - temperature programming, in cell titration, time behavior |
|
Most experiments are multidimensional i.e. observing the change in the spectrum as a result of changing the pH or the temperature. This enables these studies to easily performed. |
|
| |
Measurement cell flexibility |
|
ICHOS can operate with may different measurement cells - a single instrument can be used with standard cells, micro cells (very low volume), non-invasive emat transducers, on-line probes and flow cells. Specialized cells can be developed to suit ALL applications. |
|
| |
Measures both attenuation and ultrasonic velocity |
|
Enables both of these parameters to be used in system modeling. |
